Cargo Forum Switzerland (CFS)

The Cargo Forum Switzerland (CFS) is an interest group of associations for the benefit of freight transport. The CFS promotes the interests of freight transport in politics, administration and the public. It aims to better highlight the economic importance of freight transport and to represent its interests on a higher level. The CFS contributes to political solutions and promotes fair and practicable framework conditions. It forms a platform for the freight transport industry, authorities and politicians.

CFS members include the Swiss Commercial Vehicles Association ASTAG, the Competence Centre for Efficient Value-Added Networks GS1, the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry SIHK, the Swiss Shippers’ Council SSC, the Association of Swiss Freight Forwarding and Logistics Companies SPEDLOGSWISS, the Swiss Shipping and Port Industry Association SVS and we at the VAP. For special projects, we work together with other organisations.

The CSF is neutral towards freight transport modes, strives for a demand-oriented and sustainable transport policy, supports a state-quota-neutral, market-based transport management as well as the unbundling of freight and passenger transport and advocates the harmonisation and standardisation of all instruments related to freight transport management.

For the following modes of transport, the CSF has formulated the following demands:

Inland waterway transport: promoting inland waterway transport as an ecologically and economically sensible mode of transport.
Air freight: ensuring demand-oriented air freight capacities and the corresponding infrastructure into and out of Switzerland
Rail: Equal rights for passenger transport compared to freight transport; allocation and pricing of train paths by independent bodies; promotion of unaccompanied, combined transport, if necessary via train path prices and infrastructure financing.
Road transport: prioritisation of domestic freight transport, domestic and export transport over transit axes; promotion of optimisation measures for the use of infrastructure capacities.
